What’s need got to do with it?
NJ DA asks supreme court not to take the Drake case, the case about residents having to show a justifiable need to exercise their rights.

If the AG is so sure of his position, why not let the case proceed and settle the issue nationwide once and for all??

If NJ wins, will the state start requiring a show of “need” to exercise, say, one’s religious beliefs?
Because a demonstration that my God is the one true God, and that my religious practices affect my soul’s fate in the afterlife, is something I am not prepared to provide to the New Jersey Religious Practices Licensing Board, without a bit more time and effort on my part.
But I bet the documentation required by NJ would be more than that required to achieve sainthood for Catholics.

I agree with the DA.
The court might simply find the “legislation” unconstitutional and have it stricken, in toto.
