And they will fail as hard
It’s funny. This article talks about how Moms Demand Action, having been beaten legislatively, are taking to corporations to get some action on guns. Except the two “victories” listed are the facebook non-event and the Starbuck’s “leave us the hell out of this” event.

Media spin. It’s all they have.

The only way they’d take on this effort is because the think they are going to win. The only way they think they will win is if they really think the nation is desirous of vastly more gun control, and that it is just some tiny extremist minority that is stopping all that.
Politicians flirted with gun control last year then declined a second date for fear they might feel the impact – in some election years from now.
Corporate America feels effects immediately. Their quarterly earnings make or break careers. All it would take is Staples (or whoever) to take a small hit in sales from our rather large minority telling them to stuff it. If we tie lower earnings to support for gun control, we win.
I relish this fight. Can we make a huge impact in the bottom line of some big firm? Probably not. But we only need to stand together and make a noticeable impact. That will scare people enough to result in a walk-back.
There is also the possible ripple effect that Mom’s will bring attention to stores that today already ban guns but have gotten no real publicity over it: Ikea; Costco; etc.
I wonder how willing they will be to get up in bright lights and declare we should all shop somewhere else?
Last time I was in Ikea in Tampa, there were guns printing on multiple shoppers and nobody cared. Heck, I saw one guy bend down to pick up a box and his shirt exposed his gun to the employee helping him. Didn’t even cause a blink.
Does Ikea really want the publicity that Mom’s Demanding Attention wishes to cause?

Opening a new Front eh? I’d make a Barbarossa joke, but I’m really reminded of the Pacific theater towards the end of the war.
The saying goes that Japanese Propaganda kept talking about one glorious victory after the next, problem was… the “victories” kept getting closer and closer to the home islands.

The narrative cannot fail; the concept of “failure” is simply not within their ability to comprehend.
One almost has to admire the dedication, especially given the futile nature of the task. Well, one would, if it were not for the fact that they were working to undermine basic human rights…

One example (of many) of their inability to comprehend failure is their “Blood in the steets” drumbeat.
*Every* time a state legalizes permissive carry they scream about “shootouts over parking lots”.
And yet in the past two decades the data has not supported them. I recall when Wisconsin passed CCW there were antis claiming that Wisconsin was special and that *this time* the streets would run red with cheeshead blood.

They are delusional.
Heck, Staples told them to leave or be arrested. And the manager carries.

Spinning like an Iranian centrifuge.

Why don’t Moms Demand Action demand that their children receive protection like that for which they pay to provide for the President and Congress?

I don’t know about you, but it is legal for me to shoot people who come in the window, instead of the front door.

And now they’ve defined “victory” down to being around when a contract runs out.

I bet she is pulling down some MAJOR MOOLAH from bloomberg. Especially with how badly the president needs a good PR whore, exit James Carney…

Problem is, here in our PA statehouse, we cant get much done pro-gun wise because they are scared of Bloomberg money and press.
“If we do nothing this session we win” was told to me by a few reps and the majority leader’s staff.
