They keep using that, “It’s just a local story,” excuse–unless there’s an (R) after the name.

As usual, both sides are wrong: Technically CNN did report it http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1113415?ref=feeds%2Flatest but also, searching “state senator” site:cnn.com gives 8500 hits. They are burying it in the “also run” news while lying about their motives.
