Constitutional Carry in Tennessee
Seems the senate passed a bill allowing open carry without a permit. Didn’t think I’d see that this soon. I’m guessing they learned that they need to dance with who brung ’em.

House Finance has already rolled it to last session, effectively killing it.

I sometimes wonder how many Republicans we have to replace to get pro gun legislation passed. I sometimes think we had an easier time with a Dem as governor.

House bill has a fiscal note(effectively killing bill). Senate avoided note by prohibiting state from reissuing CC cards with additional verbage. Bill can come back out of Fiscal Sub if they amend it to Senate language. Then the bill can be voted.
Just need a loyal American to amend the bill…

Just some pre-election posturing by the Senate??

Hell, no need to posture this cycle. R is going to win almost the whole ticket in TN.
But you could be on to something. They might be looking to juice the next election cycle when they won’t have the gift of Obama. But that would require tactical and cunning thought processes so that theory is right out.
I will work to primary an R that holds this one up in the house. So far it looks like one or two have pulled this off but time will tell who the snakes are.

As long as we have the Gov and House Speaker we do now, any pro gun bill faces an uphill fight.

The House would be wise to pass this bill.
I hope that it’s an election issue this Fall.

It was a safe vote to happify the base, while not being likely to result in actual changes to the law because the House will let it die. Next year the House will vote for it, and the Senate won’t bring it up for a vote.
The trick is to have simultaneous votes on a simple yes/no bill in both bodies, and oppress them mercilessly until the bill is signed into law.
