Eric Holder wants us to have unicorns too

The AG wants to explore technology that doesn’t really work well because GUNS:

“I think that one of the things that we learned when we were trying to get passed those common sense reforms last year, Vice President Biden and I had a meeting with a group of technology people and we talked about how guns can be made more safe,” he said.

“By making them either through finger print identification, the gun talks to a bracelet or something that you might wear, how guns can be used only by the person who is lawfully in possession of the weapon.”

You don’t want to go there, buddy. Smart guns are dumb.

After a minimum 10 year Beta test by every law enforcement agency in the United States then, maybe. Ahhh, no. regards, Alemaster

  2. Paul Kisling Says:

And this is Holder’s magic trick to solve the case of the disappearing government issued sidearms? To make them unfireable? Well until some enterprising hardware hacker “fixes” them…

  3. Daniel in Brookline Says:

Yup, what Alemaster said. Every new firearm law should be subject to that same common-sense test — let’s first subject all police officers to the law. If it works out for them, then let’s talk.

Paul, I’m thinkin’ your average Middle School geek would jumper around the whiz-bang stuff in about fifteen minutes.

Wonder if we’d need to install anti-virus and malware protection in our guns??

  5. Rivrdog Says:

Guns sre already “smart”, in that they can only be used by the most advanced species. Is Holder saying that he envisions some super-species ” smarter” than humans?

  6. Jon Says:

All smart guns and wristbands would be tested to insure they comply with the federal jamming equipment.

  7. Sigivald Says:

I’ll think about it once the police and armed forces are forced to use them.

If it’s not good enough for them (after all, cops get killed by “taken weapons” a lot more than civilians) it’s not good enough to force on us.

  8. Paul Says:

As long as it’s a ‘you can purchase and use it if you want’ thing, I’m ok with it.

But if it’s a ‘mandate’, then they can go to hell.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
