Switchblade blades get an exception to TN law banning weapons. I’ll stick with the Spyderco Endura Wave. It comes out of the pocket open and had fewer parts to fail.
Aunt B. penned a piece for the Nashville Leftist Butthurt Crowd on the senate passing constitutional carry bill. Barring some sort of major uprising, the bill is dead since the house vote was moved to the last part of session, which is where bills go to die. She’s kind of dumbstruck that one could, under the proposes bill, carry a gun but not a stick. This is because TN has a rather stupid set of laws when it comes to weapons. TN law basically starts with the provision that carrying of all weapons is illegal but there are exceptions depending on the weapon or permitting or what have you. By default, the pointy stick is banned. And it doesn’t have a lobby getting an exception for it.
After Newtown, lots of gun control laws were proposed. 3 of 50 states passed some. But the result was actually more pro-gun laws:
Perverse as it may sound, the horrific mass shooting in December 2012 at Sandy Hook Elementary produced a burst of state-level gun control bills around the country and then triggered a much stronger pro-gun backlash
It’s not perverse. People like freedom.
The FAA banned drones doing rescue missions. The drones have saved 300 people. FAA can cite no law or reg regarding the ban because they suck at their job.
The president says that women make less than men. Someone points out they sure do, at the White House. And the White House responds with how the gap is misleading when applied to the White House.
Just as the gap is with all businesses.
And, of course, the denominator is the stickler in the equation. Not a lot of men go on maternity leave. Not a lot of men stay home after birthing babies. And more women are staying home by choice. Also, not a lot of women take high paying, labor intensive jobs in the middle of nowhere because they choose not to. I’m guessing the percentage of women who work on an oil platform is way closer to zero than 100.
I’m not saying none do or that women cannot. But, by and large, they just don’t. Choice and all.
But, it’s an election year and the war on women worked for Ds last time.
In NJ, Man hears a ruckus. Gets shotgun to check it out. It’s the police at a neighboring property. The police tried to put him away for 10 years. Fortunately, a jury acquitted him.
Connecticut Against Gun Violence press release said:
A coalition of state Gun Rights Prevention Groups will be holding a press conference on Thursday, April 3, at 10:00 am at the State Capitol, 3rd Floor, Old Judiciary Room.
Oops. Just change the name to Connecticut Against Gun Rights. At least it’s honest.
Seems the senate passed a bill allowing open carry without a permit. Didn’t think I’d see that this soon. I’m guessing they learned that they need to dance with who brung ’em.
Apparently, sticking it to the citizens is a priority while nuclear secrets are not.
The AG wants to explore technology that doesn’t really work well because GUNS:
“I think that one of the things that we learned when we were trying to get passed those common sense reforms last year, Vice President Biden and I had a meeting with a group of technology people and we talked about how guns can be made more safe,” he said.
“By making them either through finger print identification, the gun talks to a bracelet or something that you might wear, how guns can be used only by the person who is lawfully in possession of the weapon.”
You don’t want to go there, buddy. Smart guns are dumb.
They’ve reviewed it and noted it has a steal core. And since this company makes a pistol that shoots the ammo, the cannot be imported. So, if someone were to make a 7.62x54R pistol, I guess that ammo would be illegal. Even if the pistol wasn’t popular.
You know, when it’s his officer arrested in India on gun charges stemming from having 3 shell casings in his bag. India’s gun laws sound about as ridiculous as NYC’s.
From NSSF:
A. Barton Hinkle, who some day hopes to be The Barton Hinkle, looks at knife rights:
In any event, Fred unwittingly committed a Class 1 misdemeanor. Virginia’s concealed-weapons law makes it illegal to carry “hidden from common observation” not just firearms but also dirks, bowie knives, switchblades, razors and a variety of more exotic items usually seen only in poorly dubbed martial-arts movies. The list also includes machetes.
Economist Mark Gius has a study that details what we already know. That CCW deters crime and that the assault weapons ban was pointless.
Because, apparently, the media only wants to talk to gun control advocates. Also, some interesting reading on mass shootings there. I was unaware of that mass shooting that was stopped before it started.
The folks at Jerky Dynasty sent me a sample pack of Buffalo Bob’s exotic jerky. It’s good stuff. My favorites were the duck and the alligator, probably because they were a type of meat I’ve not had often. The kids liked the venison and buffalo a lot.
The jerky is high quality and mildly seasoned. I didn’t notice any real heat on any that I’ve tried so far. I do like a little spice. Even without the kick, this stuff is great. And, honestly, how often do you get to eat antelope? I recommend it.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
