If a republican president gets elected, what can he do? Seems like he would be honor-bound to order the arrest Obama and Holder as material witnesses, until there was an adequate explanation for F&F. And the IRS scandal. And selling the Illinois Senate seat back in 2009.
dusty; You’re forgetting what the GOP stands for. No, Grasshopper; they would be “honor-bound” to drop the whole thing in favor of “decorum” expecting us praise them for it else we be put down as ignorant savages.
I would have thought that this would be obvious by now. The only departure from that would be for purely political reasons, and even then they would resist and complain and drag their feet. No. They’ll do essentially nothing.
For another thing, if the GOP decided to go whole-hog on prosecuting high crimes in high office, they’d stand to be prosecuted themselves at the next turn, or many of them would. Best not to rock the boat. The gig is still too comfortable and profitable for anyone to take a stand and risk the fall-out. For that reason, teaparty up-starts and junior smartasses must be assimilated, and thankfully it is now more than possible to get enough dirt on anyone who needs to be reigned in, even if you have to make it up.
If you don’t believe me, if you speak out, maybe we’ll have a little talk about a little boy I may know, who you may or may not have touched inappropriately. I’m sorry; did I say that? I didn’t really mean it. I don’t know what I was thinking. Do you have a family? Do you like your family? I don’t think you want them to come to any, uh, hardships….do you? We all want the best for your family, right? I know I do, and I wouldn’t want anything to come between you and yours.
Shit, Man, there are literally trillions of dollars at play, to say nothing of the power and status. You know what people have been known to do for a few thousand dollars? A million?

Markie Marxist sez: “Well, they are the Justice Department, so obstructing justice is just part of what they do, isn’t it?”
