AR-15-Specific Tools from Brownells
Nifty. However, I just put an entire AR-15 together using a screwdriver, hammer and a block of wood.

When assembling lowers, specialized tools aren’t strictly necessary.
That said, I personally advocate getting a tool for installing the pivot pin; Brownells sells one for about 16 bucks, and it’s worth it.
If you’re going to be doing a lot of lowers, a specialized roll pin pusher for installation/removal of the trigger guard roll pin might be worth it for you too.

A gas block pin drift sleeved punch is still pretty handy. I’ve lost count of the pins I’ve buggered up driving them in without one.

A Geissele reaction rod or similar is worth the price, IMHO, especially compared to a clamshell block. It doesn’t always replace it, but it can’t be beat for installing a barrel nut.
To install your front pivot pin, go buy a 1/4″ clevis pin with holes and a punch or allen wrench. Insert the opposite way of the regular pin, press the spring and detent through with the punch, give it a quarter turn, then push the clevis pin out with the pivot pin. Pow. Done.
I build my lowers while sitting at the coffee table in the living room.
