You can tell a lot about someone by a handshake
It’s true. I can gauge someone pretty well by their handshake. Someone who tries to crush your hand tells you something. Someone who goes limp tells you something. Someone who does it right with a firm but agreeable squeeze tells you something. And, also, fist bumps are only appropriate if you’re under 13 years of age.

on fist bumps.. I would add “or if you are some medical professional on rounds who comes in to shake my hand on the way to shaking another 200 sick peoples hands, I am fine with the fist bump instead, or better yet, a nice hi with no physical contact”

If I meet someone just coming out of a bathroom, I’m gonna go with a fist bump rather than a firm handshake.

Fist bumps are a must at trade shows. Really, really hair-raising how many people I see in the rest rooms who don’t wash up, plus all the walking dead you encounter anyway.

Fist bumps are ok when you’re hands are covered in oil and grease.

I never trust a man that doesn’t look you in the eyes when he shakes your hand.
It’s a sign of untrustworthyness and weakness.
Also, a man that doesn’t look you in the eyes whenever shaking hands can typically be very easily dominated.

Being that I’m doing the job interview thing, I’m surprised at the number of people who don’t meet my eyes when I shake their hands.
A firm grip is good and I *never* accept a handshake where the other person lays their hand flat. I will hold my hand vertically until they switch.
Did that once a few years ago and you could tell the guy wasn’t happy about having to ‘lower himself’ to being my equal.
