What a #ussie
So, the commie that runs the Department of Labor said something stupid. My community doesn’t pay my mortgage or feed my family.

So, I went and saw Primus in concert earlier in the week. It was interesting. They’ve apparently put out a lot more albums since I last bought one and weren’t playing a lot of the old stuff. Even Claypool asked if the audience was pissed off because they hadn’t “played that beaver song yet”. I was only annoyed because there was no Tommy The Cat or Jerry Was a Race Car Driver. But this ain’t a post about that, it’s a post about this:
It’s a crappy cell phone photo of the guy in front of us watching the whole concert through a 2 inch screen instead of watching the concert. A friend I was with and I discussed it some and both of us were just amazed this guy would rather watch the show through a 2 inch screen as opposed to watching the show. But, hey, got get stuff on the bookface I guess.
We can blame Obama all we want but congress is pretty well engaged in fucking you over too: Congress reaffirms indefinite detention of Americans under NDAA
Meanwhile, all that’s wrong with politics in one basic chart. If you want to vote the bums out, you have to start with your own bum.
“A Summer of Faith and Action” to stop gun violence. I’d go with shooting back, personally.
I ordered a couple of these KAK pistol buffer tubes before heading to Indy. Still awaiting their arrival.
This clear violation of the law is gathering steam. It needs to be passed as a law and not through bureaucratic fiat. The NRA with the heads up: Comments Needed on BATFE’s Extension of the Multiple Rifles Sales Reporting/Registration Requirements
While I was out, some idiot decided to drive around parts of Cali shooting at people. After he’d stabbed some people. Coming from an anti-gun background, it’s no surprise he knew guns gave thugs an advantage. And the usual litany of blaming everyone but the psycho doing the shooting is in full effect. Blame the NRA. Blame the pick up artists. Blame anyone that is politically expedient instead of the shooter.
And why did he kill all those people? Because he couldn’t get laid. Having watched about 15 seconds of that, it’s pretty clear why he never got laid.
I await the calls for banning knives.
It’s true. I can gauge someone pretty well by their handshake. Someone who tries to crush your hand tells you something. Someone who goes limp tells you something. Someone who does it right with a firm but agreeable squeeze tells you something. And, also, fist bumps are only appropriate if you’re under 13 years of age.
There’s some sort of racing event tomorrow. Never been and never followed the sport. Should be fun. On the way here, an odd thing happened. I drove badly in Ohio, which is the opposite of what usually happens.
A story on the efficacy of bulletproof backpacks. After you skip through the half way point because the first half will make you stupid*, you see that they stop handgun rounds and not rifle rounds. Which is exactly what they are made for. But stuff a couple of Brownells catalogs and that AR round isn’t so tough.
* Do they really protect your child or are they making money off of parents’ fear? Yes to both, dumb ass.
So, companies operate in areas that are friendly to them. Shocking. Bonus, kicking out unions.
You win the internet. As Tam said (I’m paraphrasing), Home Depot has Sten receivers on aisle 6.
Nifty. However, I just put an entire AR-15 together using a screwdriver, hammer and a block of wood.
I had a conversation recently in the real world with a gun nut friend in which I basically said that gun rights folks were sort of like prisoners. If you’ve ever worked in a prison, you know that the prisoners have nothing to do all day long except plot how to circumvent the rules. And, if you work there, you have a job to do while they figure out ways to squeak out an extra privilege or whatever. And that’s what most did. Why not? Nothing else to do! The folks watching you have jobs to do.
Gun rights folks, while similar in circumstance, are different in motivation. They want to figure out the rules and exactly how they comply with them because they can. Or they want to prove how stupid gun laws are. Or because fuck you.
And gun rights folks also have the occasional person, who’s rather like the prisoner who thinks life is better if you accept your fate and suck up to the guards, that wags their finger when a firearms law hack presents itself.
I was rather surprised that a gun blogger, commenting on the SB-15 and tax avoidance, opined that: But to those people I overheard saying, “Yay! Now I can have a short barreled rifle without the paperwork!…” I say, “Shame on you!” This part of the post was as surprising to me as the hideous grammar and spelling.
Shame on me? What on earth for? Those that snatch up a SB-15 for giggles (like me) are complying with the law. And, as the owner of a tax stamp collection, I can tell you it’s a pain in the ass to get your SBR on. I don’t mind paying the tax. I mind the ridiculous bureaucracy-imposed 18 month plus waiting period that has grown substantially worse under the current administration. And I mind the national gun registry that is the NFRTR. And I mind an administration that doesn’t like gun owners very much. Or, I could hop on the internet and have a SB-15 shipped to my house overnight.
For a gun that’s just going to be a plaything anyway, it’s easy math.
So, yeah, from this inmate, I’m cool with anyone dropping their SB-15 on a sub 16 inch gun. Hell, I’m going to build four of them before ATF changes it’s mind or whatever it calls that arbitrary rules making apparatus it uses. And you should too.
JWH Custom asked if they could send me one and I said great. First, impressive packaging:
A closer look shows the detail that went into making the bolt:
Installation was as much of a snap as any 10/22 bolt change. And here it is installed and ready to go:
I have to say I’m most impressed with the extended charging handle. I’d never had one on a 10/22 and it never occurred to me to try one. But now that I have one, it definitely makes cycling much easier:
Range report later.
So, the NRA came out and agreed that the open carriers at Chipotle were not helpful and linked to a piece on the issue. Now, if you haven’t clicked that link, I’l tell you it disappeared since. If you have, welcome back and I hope you see this before you leave a comment telling me I’m a retard. Here’s a cache of it. And it linked to Bob Owens’ bit on how open carriers are being retards. I, at first, admired NRA seemingly advocating the position that maybe gun rights folks should try not to do anything stupid. But then it disappeared. Anyone heard exactly why?
Start with long barrel, take measurements. Cut 1″ off barrel, take measurements. Repeat. Due to NFA laws, it stops at 16.5″.
A new bill to remove the prohibition of CDC activism as science. I’d be sympathetic to the CDC if it was serious about actual study but it is, instead, serious about agenda.
So, that never happened. It’s kind of like whenever an anti-gun person says they got death threats and the press parrots it. Then you ask for a police report or proof it happened. And they usually don’t have it.
You cost us another PR loss. I mean, it’s not a real loss. Chipotle is going like Starbucks and saying leave us out of this. But it gets a few bytes in the media about how gun nuts look like raging dicks. Stop it. And what’s the next restaurant battle? Don’t fuck it up.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
