Handgun malfunction causes two police to be shot?
Call me skeptical. I was unaware of any handgun malfunction that would aim a gun at something the operator didn’t intend to shoot.

“I was unaware of any handgun malfunction that would aim a gun at something the operator didn’t intend to shoot.” (and pull its own trigger thereafter…)
Really, really, REALLY misaligned sights? Just tryin’ to help (or be a smart ass. One or the other). Maybe demon possession of the gun, you kow, like that S. King movie Christene only with a gun instead of a car? THAT would do it.

“Investigators do not yet know if the gun belonged to the cadet or the trooper’s gun.”
Hmm. Weird. Guns can own guns in Oklahoma? Maybe that’s the problem– Guns wouldn’t be very good at maintaining other guns.

If I remember correctly, OHP issues a SIG; and they’re not known for going off on their own.

My 1st guess – The cadet was in the process of doing something unsafe and the instructor tried to block it.
2nd guess – it was some kind of drill and the pistol was supposed to be unloaded.

All I know if it were a couple of “civilians” one or both would be in jail. The badge is an automatic excuse for stupidity or negligence.
