The White House blocked the re-importation of M1 Garands from South Korea. As such, the importer of those guns laid off 41 people.

In addition to the M1 Garands, they also blocked reimportation of M1 Carbines as well. Dept of State under Hillary Clinton blocked them due to their ‘assault weapon’-like detachable magazine. 500,000+ if I remember right. Seeing as they were paid for using tax dollars and not sold, but either loaned or leased, they should still belong to the tax payer.

More to the point, deadcenter, the government themselves sell the M1 Garand and the M1 Carbine to civilians via the DCM program.
