72 hour kit
MD Creekmore has an excerpt from his book on a bug out bag.
Related, months ago I started realizing I needed to focus on long term prepping. I asked MD for some advice on what food to stock and how. He sent me a copy of his book 31 Days to Survival: A Complete Plan for Emergency Preparedness. I’m a fan. Lays out step by step list of things to do in order to be prepared long term.
And, once I realized Amazon sold bulk food, it was easy to do.

It’s a good idea to start with a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats). Figure several hours of grownups’ time over a week-10 days to build a good one. Then prioritize the results. Some stuff needs to be accomplished quickly (food, water, shelter), everything else can come up in quantity uniformly.
Don’t forget to add expertise. It’s easy to become a ‘Gear Whore’. “Two is one, one is none, and why don’t I have three” can fill the bunker shelves, but use the stuff you buy as you buy it so you know how it works. Learn from others but don’t forget OPSEC.
FYI, September is National Preparedness Month, so if the apocolypse doesn’t occur before then there will be discounts and sales.

Sheesh.
“apocalypse” not apocolypse”
In other news, “Proofreaders in high demand. Film at 11.”

In my apockeyclipse go-bag I have my assless chaps, stainless steel colander face mask and ostrich feather encrusted hockey pads.
Now that I have the essentials covered, is there anything else I need?
