They took our jobs
Every where around the world. They’re coming to America.
So, a bit back, Beretta “expanded” to TN. Now, they announced that they’re moving all MD manufacturing to TN:
Beretta U.S.A. Corp., located in Accokeek, Maryland, announced today that it has decided to move its manufacturing capabilities from its existing location to a new production facility that it is building in Gallatin, Tennessee. The Gallatin facility is scheduled to be opened in mid-2015. Beretta U.S.A. had previously planned to use the new Gallatin, Tennessee facility for new machinery and production of new products only.
During the legislative session in Maryland that resulted in passage of the Firearm Safety Act of 2013, the version of the statute that passed the Maryland Senate would have prohibited Beretta U.S.A. from being able to manufacture, store or even import into the State products that we sell to customers throughout the United States and around the world. While we were able in the Maryland House of Delegates to reverse some of those obstructive provisions, the possibility that such restrictions might be reinstated in the future leaves us very worried about the wisdom of maintaining a firearm manufacturing factory in the State, stated Jeff Cooper, General Manager for Beretta U.S.A. Corp.
Turns out, gun control is bad for the local economy.
Welcome to America!

It is pretty bad when the “foreign” gun companies see the writing on the wall faster than the US companies..
Remington needs to just get its ass down to Alabama all the way. Every gun manufacturer needs to come down where they are safe. The South needs the jobs and will everything it can to keep them here.

One suspects that Beretta doesn’t expect to build any more small arms for the military…

Hm. In the first civil war, the Union won at least partly because it had all the weapons manufacturing capacity…

Beretta was going to move to VA but McAuliffe got elected. Elections have consequences.

Magpul’s slow departure from Colorado will eventually cost the state 2-400 jobs and some TBD millions in taxable income. Colorado already has some 25,000 unemployed so the change will be not noticeable. If the unemployed move to keep their old jobs, then there will be 2-400 fewer conservative voters in the state. If they go on the dole, there will be 2-400 people who owe the state for their existence. All in all, a win-win for the Dems.
I suspect the demographics would be similar in Maryland.

Joel: The CSA didn’t have Trident class submarines, B2s, ICBMs, or any of the other modern ways to reach out and knock a building down from hundreds of miles away.

RLTW, but what the CSA did have was countless former Union soldiers and officers who left the Union Army with all their equipment. Former Union Generals who surrendered their posts and gifted the CSA with all their military material.

I was hoping some of them would make the move to New Hampshire, another gun friendly state (Ruger, Thompson/Center Arms, and Sig Sauer all have manufacturing facilities and design centers here).
It could be NH was overlooked because the state Department of Resources and Economic Development didn’t let them know we’d be interested. It could also be that our governor, Maggie Hassan, doesn’t think about guns one way or the other. Goodness knows we could use the jobs here.
