So the important question is, will the judge allow this “justice delaying” tactic, or enforce the original 90 day limit on coming into compliance with the judicial order?
I bet if the judge pointed out that delay was not going to be granted, the City Council could hammer out a constitutional law regarding public carry of firearms before time ran out.
At the very least, they could hammer out another unconstitutional law about carry of firearms before the deadline.
DC should have had a contingency plan for CCW just in case they lost. On the same note, the city made the arguement against raises for the officers that they shouldn’t make more than surrounding rural counties because their job( and DC) is not unique to law enforcement and they don’t preform any duties that outside jurisdictions don’t also do on a regular basis. That statement is a matter of public record and made under oath. By happenstance, the cities arguement against non-leo carry is that DC is a unique city that requires special circumstances that differ from surrounding jurisdictions. Huh.
