Being a fuck up is a good thing for us.
We need to get rid of the laws that enable ANY agency to do what the ATF does. Would you rather have the FBI doing this?

Yeah, this is a horrible idea. ATF is a laughing stock. Without ATF, gun control laws would disappear into about 100 agencies and departments, and we’d never be able to manage it all.
ATF is the bad guy we need.

IF my government is going to attack and malign liberty, I’d MUCH rather it be attacked and maligned by colossal fuck ups than by a clever, efficient agency.
IF we’re going to tolerate huge numbers of criminals in our government, let’s pray that we keep getting stupid criminals rather than cunning ones.
On the other hand, maybe we should demand liberty and get all kinds of criminals out of our government. Since there wouldn’t be any gun laws, we wouldn’t have criminals of any kind enforcing them.
But that would be work, and we’d have to be driven by principles instead of emotions.
