Voice texts will kill its use. They have to prove you actually typed in the message. My bet is this idea will die on the alter of the 4th amendment much like police of FLIR to perform unlawful searches.

Meh. Let me know when they can tell I’m sending and receiving messages via Morse code.

I’ll ask the same question I always do when stuff like this comes up:
If texting while driving is so freaking dangerous, then why are government employees exempted from the law?

This is entirely garbage. I’m not 100% framiliar with Packet specifics but they absolutely CAN NOT determine the packets between email and text. Esp not on LTE systems or iMessage.
AT BEST they could be looking for a number or duration of packets sent over a specific time, but absolutely could not determine their contents, nor could they TRUELY pinpoint the location. This would apply to mostly older phones.
If this isn’t just a PR stunt, no real product would stand up to any scrutiny. I’m extremely skeptical they could with-stand a cause for search lawsuit. More likely this would be placed on an automated sign saying “People are texting nearby, text and drive illegal”. Even then the reliability would be a joke.

Yep. Smells like bullshit to me. I’m sure that this company would freely offer up it’s device and code to be tested by any third party that wished to, right?
