As the article notes, it’s actually pretty neat. I was fortunate enough to get to try out one of the prototypes. By pure luck I know the gentleman who developed it and have been to some great parties at his place in TN. There is no noise from the shot, just the ‘ping’ of the pellet hitting the target.
Really the only thing you can’t practice with it is multiple shots. The need to pull the charging handle each time makes it effectively a single shot. The prototype I shot was, in fact, a single shot since the magazine hadn’t been developed yet.
Considering you only get 600 FPS, or about 7 ft-lbs of energy out of it, it is a lot of money. Add another 2-300 dollars into the mix for a hand pump. Now a Benjamin Marauder in .25, for $100 less, and producing about 35 ft-lbs, is a formidable backyard varminter. It’s also more accurate than many powder burners. I’ll put mine up against any Wally World break barrel, any day.

Six hundred bucks? Too rich for my blood. I’ll saunter down to Wal Mart and buy a pellet rifle there. Hope a trigger happy cop doesn’t see me.
