I might be upset at this if I believed any part other than that there was some school discipline, of some sort, for a (snicker) “pocketknife” in someone’s possession at a school football game.
Did you hear about that other poor guy Reason wrote about, Jeffrey Dahmer, who was sentenced to life in prison for cooking in his apartment?
Children must learn the importance of not getting caught. Look at the much-beloved Harry Potter books, for example. He broke the law, but it was ok because he didn’t get caught.
This disconnect is part of the reason anti-gunnies push crazy gun control laws: they can’t imagine anyone actually obeying the law. They think the law will just encourage gun owners to try harder not to get caught.
