As long as the Con Carry folks don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good and try to squelch the OC (permitless per the text provided) bill if it seems to be making headway and the Con Carry doesn’t.
Realism and incremental wins where necessary are the watchword. all or nothing is a quick way to nothing.
Camacho sounds like a d-bag.
The same tired arguments were used by a CCW “instructor” in AZ. I emailed the AZ “instructor” and told them that he and his wife actively campaigning to not get CC in AZ was a weasel way to insure his own paychecks.
In reply I got a canned answer that they sent out to the THOUSANDS of folks that took them to task over it.
There have been NO issues of legal Con. Carry either open or concealed that I’ve seen reported.
Bill seeks to define the mere carrying of handgun as not being “probable cause” for a LEO to detain or disarm a citizen.
They mean “reasonable suspicion,” not probable cause. PC is the standard for a full custodial arrest. The standard for a temporary detention-&-disarmament is reasonable suspicion.
P.M., here in Austin a coed wearing her iPod earbuds was jogging along the sidewalks around the downtown Univ. of Texas campus.
She didn’t hear an officer order her to stop. No reason needed, he just wanted to stop her as far as I know, because a running white coed in running togs around a major university campus equals suspicious. The officer tackled her and arrested her for failure to obey.
I look forward to walking around downtown watching police minds try to wrap themselves around the concept of open carry.
The first few months should provide some educational lawsuits for the police, by the police.
CHL instructor Raul Camacho has 7 years of law enforcement experience.
He teaches gun safety courses and CHL classes at “Safety Measures” in northwest Austin.
…
If Abbott ends up signing a Constitutional Carry bill, Camacho says he won’t support it.
Nobody has to support Camacho, either. Raul appears to work for a group called “Safety Measures”, in Austin. His/Their phone number is 512-663-9393. Raul appears to be a reserve officer and he really wants to be a cop (shocker). His resume is at: http://www.indeed.com/me/raul_camacho
Well it is well known many MANY prags such as Sebastian despise open carry or sometime want it to be illegal. Now one can argue we tend to have stupid people do stupid thing like the open carry Texas group but cutting off your nose despite your face doesn’t really make sense. We talk about how one day we’ll be able to walk in NYC open carrying with either a handgun or a rifle yet at the same time speak out against open carry. Because some people make mistakes or the people who hate us and would love to have us rounded up by the government end killed in the millions get butthurt that we open carry. Why should we care about people whose endgame is the confiscation of all guns in private hands and the extermination of all who oppose?
Wow, how did I miss all of the thousands of cops and CC citizens getting mugged &/or killed for their weapons in the news ?!?
Oh wait . . . . . there aren’t any(not any as in zero but any as in a mass wave as these idiots are predicting), carry on.

I fully support the bill as it stands and when/if it passes, then I’ll start looking to get Constitutional Carry passed. Baby steps work.

Sigh….
Here in Florida our biggest hurdle to OC hasn’t been the anti’s, but the “pro-gun” people who think we should be 100% ConCarry or nothing else.
Yet none of them will spend the time to a) help craft the bill b) meet with congresscritters c) donate money d) etc.
