AP misrepresenting stand your ground laws. I’m shocked. I remember listening to the talking head yammer on about SYG in the Trayvon Martin case. Someone pointed out that SYG was never brought up at the trial by anyone at anytime. The talking head said “I believe it was” and believed it even though they could provide zero evidence of it.

That reminds me of when I was watching one of those MSNBC talking heads shortly after the Martin shooting. One guy is saying “stand your ground is bad, mmmkay- this is why it should be repealed!” and the other one is saying “Zimmerman shouldn’t be protected under the law because he chased a scared boy down- not standing his ground, so he should be arrested and charged”. And they nodded along in complete agreement not even realizing that they took contradictory positions from each other.

Demonizing self defense is the goal here, not arriving at a conclusion based on logic or reason or facts.
Were the pro-gun side similar to our opponents, we would go around screaming that leftists all ate babies for breakfast, and used gunshot victims in Mengele-type experiments on humans. Repeated often enough, loudly enough, some portion of the public would believe it.
