Item 1: “We have a gun violence problem” Ergo other forms of violence are acceptable?

Item 6: Japan’s gun suicide rate is sooo much lower than the U.S. Gun suicides are bad. Other forms are OK?

Item 7: Whose statistics? My experience is abusers use restraining orders to disarm their victims. Who needs a gun to kill your ex when she is safely disarmed by a restraining order.

  2. Other Steve Says:

Yea, I like the suicide one… We’re 36th or 38th in world suicide, and 8 of the top 10 nations for suicide have banned civilian firearm ownership.

Yet gunmen are holding hostages in Australia right now – which should be unpossible due to gun control there.

  4. Ron W Says:

Yes Mikee, that’s what those who want more gun control for US, but are THEMSELVES surrounded and protected by guns. The hostage situation in Australia is aided and abetted by the imposition of gun free places, just as are school shootings here.

  5. dustydog Says:

Ron, you raise an interesting question. After Obama leaves office,is tried and convicted, does he continue to get Secret Service protection while serving his life sentences?

  6. Ron W Says:

They have men with guns to surround him in jail. So no.

I think this is an old Slate article. Shows a Summer of 2013 publishing date, and the vote count in the Senate is surely changed by now.

Good article, though, and I hadn’t seen it before. Thanks for the li

  8. Renegade_Azzy Says:

Somehow I doubt these same people want just police to be armed now….

  9. Ron W Says:

I see there’s a reported multiple person shooting in PA today. The Sandy Hook shooting occurred about this time on a Fri Dec 14 and today this shooting occurs on Dec 15. Coincidence I suppose, since we all know nothing happens by conspiracy. Yet these incidents are always used by media and officialdom as yet another pretext for more Federal gun control for us, not for them. The date significance is that Dec 15 is Bill of Rights Day. Heard anything of it today? Of course not, media and government officials never mention nor celebrate it, but it seems ironic that notable shootings have and did happen on the day which commemorates the Bill of Rights which they attack with legislation and executive orders. Now it’s “universal background checks” they push which directly violates the 4th and 5th Amendments of the Bill of Rights. And with all of this nicely pretexted, “common sense” gun control they push, they always EXEMPT THEMSELVES.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
