I went with the wife to see the 3rd Hunger Games movie last night. It’s amazing that Hollywood is so good at making movies showing how terrible it is when only the government has guns.

I live in New Zealand. The news tonight showed the Australian Liberal Democrats saying that people should be allowed to be armed. (Yeah, ‘allowed,’ as including the presumption that their rights are granted by government.)
But the news presenter, dispensing with all pretense of objectivity, openly called their policy suggestion “stupid” to the entire audience, right on the national evening news. Narrative.

The residents of New Zealand and Australia, like our neighbors in Canada and Mexico, are subjects of their countries, and governmental authority there does not derive from the consent of the people.
In their countries, governments rule the subjects and the subjects have only privileges which can be removed at whim. Rights are infringed by the government authorities as a matter of course.

Formerly great Britain did what it did. Australia did what it did. Etc. How has that worked out? Not so well from what I’ve seen. I refuse to see that happen in the US. If I have to die in the fight against it, so be it. III.
