A grip on the slide

Not sure how well this works. But I suppose there’s a market for it.

There’s also the Handi Racker.

There is a market for these.

About 7 or so years ago, my neighbor came to me because he was having issues racking his pistol. He was a WWII veteran, avid hunter, but his age and arthritis had caught up to him.

I never found anything reasonable to help him back then. He has since passed. But I’m going to book mark these items. I do run in to a number of elderly or arthritic people who can no longer properly manage all aspects of gun handling easily.

Today is not only UGLY (see lead post) but DUMB (these two) day at the site! Get a revolver if you can’t rack the slide.

  3. TM Says:

Revolvers have their own issues for the weak of hand in the form of heavier trigger pulls and a bit more fumbling about during a reload and the potential for heavier felt recoil. Which isn’t to say they don’t have their place in solving these sorts of issues, but that they may not be an end all be all solution. I am left wondering however why have the large knobs and doodads and not simply two small clips and a leather strap or such to grab and pull, much like a slingshot (or nerf gun).

  4. TM Says:

Thinking about it more, I suppose the problem with the strap would be that any strap large enough to get a good grip on is now a loose item flailing about with every shot and movement.

Oldgeezer, the point of a defensive weapon is not to look good. It is to work when you need it for defense.

Anything that helps folks with arthritis or whatever keep their right to self-defense is NOT stupid. I could say what is stupid, but my mother told me “if you can’t say anything nice…”

I’m thinking; what if you’re not at the range, it’s not a perfect day, everything is covered in snow, and you don’t happen to have a stout post, or a cleared-off table, right next to you You do that on the ground, you’re shoving your muzzle into the muck.

Let’s time someone doing a tap-rack-bang drill using one of those. First, she has to do the tap, the fish the little fucking tool out of her purse in the dark, in the rain, while the athletic, 300 pound perpetrator is lunging at her.

Get a gun you can handle well and properly. They exist. Find one.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
