New surgeon general to focus on expanding prohibited persons?
That’s what the anti-gun people seem to want:
With more money and the support of the CDC, Teret said, one priority area of research would be finding out what kind of people are at risk for recommitting violence and then adding them to the category of citizens disallowed from purchasing guns. Another area would be so-called smart guns, which are designed so they are only fireable by authorized people.
With activist statements like that, and they wonder why congress pulled funding for their research.

“recommitting violence”
Odd choice of wording.
Did they already commit violence? If so, why are they not secured?

We already put people on the prohibited persons list that may recommit violence.
They’re called “felons.”

Hmm. If such a campaign should gain some ground, I would suggest a counter with a push to restore the gun rights to those convicted of felonies that were not crimes against persons, i.e., the ones that don’t involve violence. That should rattle the gun control ranks.

But…but….the Center for Disease Control has NOTHING valuable, OR qualified, to say about firearms!
(except maybe miniscule lead exposure at firing ranges)
No matter HOW much of their budget they may decide worthy to “invest” in “….shall not be infringed”-ectomy.
How’s that consistently mutating flu (thanks to consistently “evolving” control measures) thing coming along? Got that “disease” of unwanted pregnancy thing down yet? How about the “born that way” epidemic of violent protest/looting/rioting?

The CDC is about to jump the shark out of the frying pan into the fire without a snowball’s chance in hell.
Is there any federal agency the Obama administration has not prostituted to perform political rather than governmental functions?

Mikee:
No.

What if you have ebola-like symptoms and own firearms? Is that a double negative?

All they need to do is to define someone who likes guns as dangerously mentally ill, and then all gun owners can be classified as prohibited persons. Can’t happen? Willing to bet your 2nd Amendment on it?

So who will make this decision as to who is “dangerous”?
I would actually be open to it if it were done with due process. But seeing how as our government keeps it’s lists of prohibited persons and the reasons secret, with no way of getting off with due process. NO F’ING WAY.

“What kind of people”? Most firearms abusers are democrats.

Yay, more pre-crime.
