Apparently, there is this football league that exists outside of college and it’s a thing. I’m usually vaguely aware of it from about the first week of January to the first week of February and then we sit around watching commercials for four hours. But he made the point that if people paid as much attention to their government as they do to their favorite sport, we’d probably better off.

But I’m guessing that if you air up a football inside a warm, room temperature locker room then take it outside in MA in January where it’s cold, it’d probably lose some air pressure. I remember how when I lived in Hell err New Jersey as a kid that the basketballs didn’t bounce in the winter.

In TN, you can drink in a car, provided you’re not driving. But a Republican wants to change that:

Right now passengers can crack a beer while riding in a car in Tennessee. A new bill would make that illegal, moving Tennessee in line with the majority of other states in the country.

“Right now we’re encouraging people to party in the car,” said Rep. Jon Lundberg, R-Bristol, who filed the legislation Thursday.

“If people are drinking in the car, except in rare instances, the driver is often participating in that.”

Then, if they are pulled over and found to be drinking, they can be arrested.

Passing the law is going to save lives and bring more money to Tennessee, he said.

The former is a fabrication. The latter is probably what the bill is about.

I used to joke about what would happen if some stupid prank show or some such tried their nonsense on someone carrying a gun. Well, if reddit is to be believed, it happened. She beat scare tactics.

The paper of making up the record reports that no civil rights charges will be filed against Darren Wilson for shooting the thug who had attacked him.

The incident where the man lawfully carrying a gun was tackled by another man was captured on video.

Did you see that? A law-abiding black man minding his own business when suddenly an obviously racist white guy batters him. I wonder when Al Sharpton will organize a march to protest this injustice!

Also, post tackle, this is why I’m glad I carry a knife that can easily be deployed with one hand. One-handed deployment while on the ground could have ended that right quick.

“As reaffirmed in an Open Letter by ATF’s Firearms and Ammunition Technology Division dated January 16, 2015, the Pistol Stabilizing Brace (SB15 and SBX) is legal to own, legal to purchase, and legal to install on a pistol. SIG SAUER® believes that the PSB improves the single-handed shooting performance of buffer tube equipped pistols, and offers the product both as an accessory and pre-installed on a number of pistols.

“The Open Letter goes further to rescind a previous private letter regarding the ‘intent’ of the user of the pistol stabilizing brace. In the letter of January 16, 2015, ATF opines that a person’s actual use of the product as a shoulder stock can change the legal classification of the product. However, the Open Letter explicitly states: “ATF hereby confirms that if used as designed—to assist shooters in stabilizing a handgun while shooting with a single hand—the device is not considered a shoulder stock and therefore may be attached to a handgun without making a NFA firearm.”

“We question ATF’s reversal in position that the classification of the brace may be altered by its use. We are reviewing the legal precedents and justification for this position, and will address our concerns with ATF in the near future.

“We will vigorously defend the classification of all of our products and our consumers’ right to use them in accordance with the law. If we find that the open letter opinion is outside the scope of the law, we will seek further review.”

Astronomer Joe White could hardly believe his eyes while studying footage beamed back from the planet by NASA’s Curiosity rover.

Man sees another man carrying a gun at Wal-Mart. And tackles him:

A Lithia man has been charged after he tackled another man Tuesday who had a handgun in a holster — and a permit to carry — at a Wal-Mart.

About 11:58 a.m., deputies responded to the store at 11110 Causeway Blvd. where Clarence Daniels had been taken to the ground by Michael Foster, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Foster had seen Daniels getting out of his vehicle in the lot with handgun, under his coat and in a holster. Foster followed him into the store and then attacked the Daniels, the sheriff’s office said.

The report said Foster did not call 911 until he tackled Daniels.

Also, some situational awareness may be in order:

Once inside the store, Foster approached Daniels from behind, placed him in chokehold and took him down against his will and without permission. A brief struggle ensued.

Police are charging the one who did the actual assaulting and battering. Good.
