Texas has lotsa laws that say specific people gotta do what they hafta do, especially when someone else is doing something bad.
Break into a Texas residence after dark, and it is assumed under law you pose a deadly threat to the inhabitants, who will often treat you as such. Break into a residence during daylight hours, not so much, as we Texans are often away working during the day.
Be a teacher “in loco parentis” and you get to act as the parents would, protecting the kiddies from harm as if they were your very own.
