  1. HL Says:

The State Seal can be changed to Dolly Parton holding a Barrett in one arm and a bible in the other.

  2. uscitizen Says:

    Good choice!

  3. Lyle Says:

It’s what you do instead of something. Do they have an official State Douchebag yet?

  4. HL Says:

    Al Gore, Jr.

  5. Ron W Says:

Good choice…manufactured right in the middle of the State.

  6. CarlS Says:

Does Barrett still refuse to sell to gov agencies with anti-2A policies? Then perhaps it would prefer that Tennessee politicians refrain from using the Barrett name in vain?

  7. MJM Says:

Maybe, I sure appreciate Barrett being here. But, Davy Crockett’s rifle is on display right here in Knoxville. I’m for that flintlock.

  8. Ron W Says:

“A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a FREE STATE”, Tennessee should enact legislation and appropriate funds to provide a Barrett .50 cal bolt-action to anyone of the militia who will VOLUNTEER to receive one and administer proper regulation, i.e., ammunition, care and practice.

“Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American…” – Tench Coxe 1788

“I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for a few public officials.”
    — George Mason, in Debates in Virginia Convention on Ratification of the Constitution, Elliot, Vol. 3, June 16, 178

“The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed.”
    — Alexander Hamilton, The Federalist Papers at 184-188

  9. Ron W Says:

    MJM,

Put’em both on display, with designations: Then and Now.

  10. Lyle Says:

Ron W; if the state “provided” every militia able person in the state with a 50, it would cost you five to ten times as much as you going and buying it yourself. And of course that little detail pales in light of the fact that the state “providing” you with anything means it’s no longer a free state.

Where in hell did we get this notion that governments “provide” things?

  11. Ron W Says:

Lyle. You’re right. Sort of a tongue-in-cheek suggestion considering now Haslam wants to provide free college tuition. And if the government did that, they would probably want to send agents by to check up on us and THEIR rifles. You’re right, the best we can hope and fight for is to stay FREE to acquire, keep and carry our own.

  12. David E. Young Says:

    For Ron W.,

    The actual Mason quote is:

“I ask, Who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers.”
[The Origin of the Second Amendment, p.430]

This is one of those period source “quotes” that has often been repeated in a form altered from the original.

  13. nk Says:

There is already a rifle called the Tennessee Rifle.

  14. nk Says:

Is this guy like that numby in New Jersey who wanted to make Springsteen’s “Born To Run” the state’s official anthem? I bet he just saw “American Sniper”.

  15. Ron W Says:

    Thanks, David.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
