The pentagon tried it. Interesting.

    Re-inventing the wheel.
    Is AK.

    And AK with Roller locking?

This rifle did not have the supercool look to it. Small wonder it was rejected.

    Even an AK needs maintenance.

  4. Kristophr Says:

I like the side mounted magazine. Both AKs and ARs have issues with this when firing from the prone position.

Make a variant upper for southpaws, and call it done.

    “Low-maintenance AR replacement”….

Hmmm, ok, get a AK, do a bit of redesign so it has:

    1. a regular safety like the AR, easy to reach.

    2. takes mags that drop out with AR style mag release.

    3. bit thicker receiver for more accuracy.

    4. Hinged top cover so sights can be put on it (or on the receiver behind the top cover) as well as add ons.

And that’s that. Bet any company could do it in 6 months and very little R&D.

But no, the gubberment will blow a billion or two to come up with some trash that still is not as reliable as the AK.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
