Easy answer to any what caliber question: What’s your favorite caliber?
Not that one!
In states where training is required by law, it works differently. The person applies for a license and learns they have to take a class in order to get that license. So being human, they go looking for the cheapest, fastest way to get the paperwork completed. Online? Sure! Shortcut class that barely meets state law? Good! Whatever, just get me that paper.
Stephen Gutowski applied for one citing threats he had received. He went through the process, got printed, and paid the money. He was denied because, despite being threatened and able to show that, he was unable to show he had good reason to fear for his safety. Heck, doesn’t living in DC qualify as having a good reason to fear for your safety?
From an email, the NRA is getting its youth outreach on:

I’m happy to see them making this move.
Rubio looking to end Operation Chokepoint. Though it does make me wonder what people would do when the other team is in charge.
With the kids out of school due to icemageddon, we had a lot of down time. And the kids got bored. So, I was showing them things to do with cards, like building a house of cards, throwing cards, and tossing cards into a hat. After a couple of attempts at house building that ended in collapse, my son went and got tape to put them together. Then, I showed them tossing cards into a box. My daughter tried it. But my son grabbed the entire deck and tossed all the cards right in the box.
At first, I was disappointed he was cheating. Then I realized it was also pretty smart.
He is a little rules lawyer.
Put aside the photo of someone with their booger-hook on the bang-switch while pointing it at their hand.
A new gun law proponents say helps law enforcement has driven Smith & Wesson and Sturm Ruger out of California, and affirmed the suspicions of firearms rights advocates that the measure is really about making handguns obsolete.
The two companies have announced they will stop selling their wares in the nation’s most populous state rather than try to comply with a law that requires some handguns to have technology that imprints a tiny stamp on the bullet so it can be traced back to the gun. The companies, and many gun enthusiasts, say so-called “microstamping” technology is unworkable in its present form and can actually impair a gun’s performance.
Will they refuse to sell to law enforcement? I’m surprised more industries don’t pull out of Cali, like car makers, due to their silly regulations.
Henderson v. United States is heading to the supreme court. At issue is a convicted felon’s ability to transfer his firearms to someone else to sell them.
NJT:
You should be able to detail strip you three guns, jumble it all up in a bin, and reassemble three guns and have them all work GOOD, without a hiccup.
Judge rules that open carry can be banned so long as concealed carry is allowed. Also, I didn’t realize that, in FL, having a license is an affirmative defense to the crime of carrying a gun.
Guess who makes the top of the list. Funny how Attkisson can do more journalism (note lack of quotation marks) when not working for CBS.
All by itself, according to the press. The police report does say the officer inadvertently discharged it.
If he (Obama) were working for the other side, what exactly would he be doing differently?
I admit I laughed
Rep. Dexter Sharper didn’t vote to allow guns to be carried in more places in Georgia last year. But when the so-called “guns everywhere” law took effect last summer and permitted firearms in bars, schools, churches and government offices, the legislator from Valdosta found himself applying for a license.
Sharper, a Democrat who works as a paramedic, said he didn’t want to be caught somewhere as the only person without a firearm. It’s a growing possibility in his district in Lowndes County, which now issues more than double the number of licenses it did five years ago.
While Sharper and his .32-caliber Kel-Tec may no longer be outgunned, he said he now realizes that his pistol is of little use without guidance as to what to do with it. He suspects other inexperienced, gun-toting Georgians know too little about the state’s gun laws, or how to safely use and store firearms, as well.
Sharper is proposing that those who get a license to carry firearms be required to take a gun safety class.
An email from Sig:
BATFE REAFFIRMS PISTOL BRACE LEGAL TO OWN, INSTALL AND USE
Newington, N. H. (February 20, 2015) – SIG SAUER, Inc. has issued the following statement relative to the January 2015 open opinion letter issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms regarding the SB15 and SBX Pistol Stabilizing Braces.
BATFE Technical Branch issued an open opinion letter dated January 16, 2015 regarding the Pistol Stabilizing Brace (SB15 and SBX) which is marketed by SIG SAUER®. Contrary to several statements subsequently made in social media, this opinion letter did not make or otherwise declare that the SB15 product is illegal. The BATFE letter stated that the SB15 is a product “which is legal to own, legal to purchase and legal to install on a pistol.” SIG SAUER believes that the PSB enhances the shooter’s experience and offers the products as an accessory and pre-installed on a number of pistols. In all of its opinions, BATFE has consistently stated that a pistol with a stabilizing brace attached remains a pistol under the Gun Control Act when used as designed.
Emphasis added. Because that’s how it was been. So, a press release for nothing happening?
WABC NY: A police officer accidentally shot his sergeant after firing at a pit bull inside a Brooklyn apartment building.
And there’s this:
The shot grazed the dog, possibly ricocheted off a wall, and then struck his sergeant in the right foot just below his big toe.
I tend to doubt the round ricocheted off a wall. More likely, the guy wasn’t sure of his target and what was behind it.
And ABC Chicago:
Earlier Wednesday morning, an alarm at the courthouse malfunctioned, forcing an evacuation of the building. The officer was retrieving a gun from a locker it went off.
Just went off all by its own self!
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
