Federal background check bill rises from the ashes
This time, it’s bipartisan. Claims to close the gun show loophole. Of course, loophole is code for ‘there ought to be a law’:
A loophole in the federal system currently allows people to buy firearms sold online and at gun shows without first passing a background check.
That statement is absolutely false.

Republican Rep. Peter King of New York and Democratic Rep. Mike Thompson of California co-authored the legislation
Two liberal commies greedy for more control doesn’t make it “bipartisan”.

In Indiana, you can buy face to face from a private seller, as long as you are not a “prohibited person” and area an Indiana resident.
You can advertize on armslist and sell/buy anywhere in the state.
Of course, that’s not what they are saying, but it ain’t entirely wrong either.
And we LIKE IT THAT WAY.

So something that has been perfectly legal and OK to do for, well, forever, selling your firearms privately, is about to become illegal?
How the heck are they gonna know if I sell an old Mosin to a stranger?

They would need to violate the 4th and 5th Amendments to do so, mikee. Once upon a time, “liberals” always supported “the right to privacy”, which though not specifically cited in the 4th would certainly be protected when conducting private transactions, which is protected. Otherwise this right as are others not enumerated would be included under the 9th Amendment.

All it tells me is that a “New York Republican” is indistinguishable from a “California Democrat.”
