So, we must ban all AR-15 ammo?
ATF Director: “Any 5.56 round” is “a challenge for officer safety,”
A bill stripping ATF of their ability to regulate ammo sounds better and better.

Well, if he is going that far, why doesn’t he just state the obvious and go all the way. Don’t just stop at all rifle rounds either. “ANY round” is “a challenge for officer safety”.
He is stating the obvious, but that doesn’t meant he has the power to regulate it.

No mention of 7.62 NATO?
March 12th, 2015 at 5:52 pm
MAJMike, you mean 7.62×51 and also no mention of 7.62×39 and there’s a lot of that out there in rifles and even pistols which are generally less expensive than AR’s but yes, the 7.62 NATO is a much more formidable round.

Every rifle caliber on earth is used in handguns like the Thompson Contender.
So if the existence of a handgun, somewhere, no matter how rare, that can shoot a specific caliber cartridge, plus body armor penetration by the round, is the test for banning, there is NO rifle caliber exempt from being banned.
Why this needs explained so long after it was fought in 1986 when Ted Kennedy wanted “teflon bullets” and other supposedly cop-killing rounds banned amazes me.
They never learn. And they never give up. It is like arguing with a pig, which only makes one dirty and entertains the pig.

Officer safety my ass. Talk to Eric Holder about officer safety in Ferguson, MO.
Then there’s that teeny little issue of the safety of liberty, but I wouldn’t expect some halfwit in the BATFE to understand the first thing about it. That bureau exists solely to erode liberty. They’re agitators and nothing else.
Well actually that’s not fair. They are a little something more than agitators. They’re also parasites. They exist by eating out our substance, while they agitate against liberty. There is not and never has been any legitimate reason for that bureau to exist.

I hope that the ATF has awakened a sleeping giant and filled it with a terrible resolve.

So, who makes a 6.8 SPC Pistol on the AR Platform? OHHH, didn’t think of THAT ONE, did you Jones?
Second Question: Just how STOOOPID does one have to be to work in the Obama Admin?

“They never learn. And they never give up. It is like arguing with a pig, which only makes one dirty and entertains the pig.”
Maybe I’m preaching to the choir, but learning and “officer safety” have nothing to do with it. It’s about disarming us. Period.
And as long as the BATF and the gun grabbers exist (but I repeat myself) they’ll never give up.

Huck,
You’re correct because only your enemy wants you disarmed!!

I would prefer a bill that defunds and abolishes the ATF completely.
March 13th, 2015 at 9:33 am
Now I hear that the ATF and the LibCong may go for banning all rifle ammunition. No need to panic, but we need to watch these Liberal Fascists.
March 13th, 2015 at 11:58 am
MAJMike, they are only liberal re: allowing arbitrary authoritarian power for the government. The are NOT the classical liberals who want Liberty for the people. When true liberals ignorantly vote for these fascists, they need to know that what goes around comes around. They may not come after their liberties yet, but when the 2nd is removed, all others wil go down too!!!

I’ve always said that after they got rid of the dangerous bullet hoses they would be back around for the dangerous sniper rifles. You know, the ones that can kill a human sized animal from ZOMG 3 football fields away.

“Second Question: Just how STOOOPID does one have to be to work in the Obama Admin?”
There you go, confusing “STOOOPID” with “Ee-ville” again…
March 13th, 2015 at 7:23 pm
Hey, I have an absolutely stupid question: If a round can be fired from a rifle, does that make that caliber of round a rifle caliber?
So does that make .45 ACP ball a centerfire rifle caliber because it can be fired from a semi-automatic Thompson, which is NOT an NFA regulated submachine gun, but rather under law a regular semi-auto rifle?
And thus, because .45 ACP ball can be fired from a 1911 pistol, that makes it a rifle caliber round fireable from a pistol and therefore armor-piercing?
I told you it was a stupid question. That’s the line of stupid reasoning you’d find reasonable if your parents were closely related yet unmarried, your lover was a Shitzu, and you worked for the BATFE.

grendel,
You’re correct. I would say that almost NEVER would a scoped not-action rifle be used in a crime or even in defense of a common criminal perp. But I ‘m sure tyrants already are aware that such rifles are a threat to them and their hired guns. The only two groups who are threatened by guns in the hands of the people are criminals and tyrants which are “the legalized version of the former”.
ONLY YOUR ENEMY WANTS YOU DISARMED
March 14th, 2015 at 9:20 am
Remember, boys and girls, politicians prefer to deal with unarmed peasants!!
The DemCong/LibCong/ProgCong all fear an armed citizenry. Our colonial forefathers would’ve been shooting government agents by now.
March 14th, 2015 at 11:11 am
ATF Director: “Any 5.56 round” is “a challenge for officer safety,”
An excellent point. Let’s not let any officers have any 5.56 rounds then.

The ONLY Constitutional power the Federal Government has been given re: firearms or ammo is when they are in hands of “such part of them (the militia) as may be called into SERVICE and EMPLOYED by the United States” (Article I, Section 8:16) Otherwise, the Federal Government may do NOTHING for which it has not been delegated powers from The States or, ultimately, the People according to the plain wording of the 10th Amendment.

And while we are at it let’s get rid of those dangerous ball bats, hockey sticks, rocks, and anything that might be used against the “better than you” enforcers.
