Governor Haslam OK with the park carry revision. Not so OK with the guns in the capitol thing.

He’s not okay with the park revision, either

He’s trying his best to keep either version from hitting his desk.
‘Cause it’s controversial you know.

I don’t think he’s ok with any pro-gun legislation. I sometimes believe we would be better off with a Democrat in the Governor’s Office, then the legislature wouldn’t hesitate to pass pro-gun laws and override any vetoes that come up.

This bill is completely pursuant to the DECLARED right of the people in the State Constitution (Article I, Section 26). The Governor may disagree because of his arbitrary “public policy”, but he is DUTY bound by his oath of office to sign it. Haslam doesn’t want to allow private guns to be brought in to the State Capitol, but at least the State provides strict security there by its guns and by monitoring the entrances.

Mike,
I think you’re right. In Tennessee, there are still some pro-gun Democrats, but such would as in the case of, Mark Clayton, the winner of their Senate Primary a few years ago, be disavowed by the leftist party establishment if they ever get near a high office. It’s pretty much the same with Republicans. They both despise that “all power is inherent in the people” as the Tennessee Constitution DECLARES in Article I, Section 1.
