SAF takes on 3D guns
SAF:
The Second Amendment Foundation today joined Defense Distributed of Austin, Texas, in filing a federal lawsuit against Secretary of State John Kerry, the Department of State and other federal officials, seeking to stop the Government’s unconstitutional censorship of information related to the three-dimensional printing of arms. The complaint was filed in U.S. District Court – Western District of Texas.

My darling daughter is graduating in less than a year as a Mechanical Engineer from a major Texas University located right down the road in Austin. I won’t mention its name because I’m an Aggie, and she likes her privacy.
She tells me that 3D printed guns are already uninteresting to this generation of ME students, who are more motivated to study the means of implementing useful AI in drones and robots for autonomous action.
She and her fellow students envision a world full of drones, from miniscule sensor drones to giant construction equipment, working on land, sea and air like hives of bees or schools of fish or colonies of ants.
And she and her fellow students see no difficulty in arming these drones.
When she was a tiny little girl and my wife and I asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, she said “Ballerina princess gymnast astronaut.” Then at about 10 years old she decided ruling the world with a robot army at her command would be fun, too.
She has studied and performed ballet and gymnastics, she’s interned for a space exploration group, she’s always been my princess. I think she just may do the rest, too.

So CAD files for regular CMC machining are all totally cool? See where this is going? We’re looking at the right hand, while the left hand is doing the trick on us. You won’t hear a peep about this until the 3D print file sharing bans are in place, then someone on the left will suddenly realize that ordinary CNC machining is still the way most guns are made… Then we’ll be all surprised and incensed and other dumb shit, like we always are.
