Distinctive causes of death per state
According to this map, Tennessee’s most distinctive killer is accidental discharge by firearm. The article explains most distinctive as one that stands out from the national average.
Guys, keep your booger hooks off the bang switch.
Quite a few states list legal intervention, which I guess means shot by the police.

The “most distinctive cause of death” has nothing to due with frequency, it is the narrowest category each particular state keeps stats on.
A “distinctive cause of death” could be “fall from fifth floor balcony to a second floor balcony”. That is certainly a very distinctive cause of death, and if any state kept stats on such it would probably be that state’s “most distinctive cause of death”.
Could have used “syphilis” as a ludicrously distinctive cause of death with it’s own distinct category (say, versus, VD in general…), but Louisiana has that distinction already.

Does this mean that the CDC has discovered why lesbians are fat?

Well, “legal intervention” is unspecific as to whether that means officially caused, as with cops, or just not illegal as with self-defense. I’d like to think it’s the latter which would be kind of sexy, but you’re probably right that it’s the former…although death by cop is problematic in many cases as to whether it’s actually “legal”.
Alas, while it’s largely eliminated in most places, thanks to the filthy Haitian swarm AIDS deaths are the standout here in teh fla, about as ironically unsexy as mortality gets.

Legal intervention may also mean assisted suicide in Oregon.

TB in Texas? Interesting. Connected to the never ending flood of illegals from Latin America? Seems logical.
