Michelle’s infamous quote comes to mind; “…Change our history…”

Ordinarily I only remember Joan Baez as Richard Farina’s sister-in-law. Just now I’m wondering how the royalty checks will be looking for her inferior but clearly heartfelt (well, Baez heartfelt) version of “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.” Her biggest hit IIRC.
“That was Then.”

After 150+ years the South is FINALLY defeated.

Lyle, I remember another of Michelle’s infamous quotes, “All this for a damn flag?”

“And thus ends all racism in America”
Actually, it is just a continuation of gov-sponsored racism and gov-imposed pre-emption and control…IOW, same as it’s ever been.
Exhibit A: “…the South is FINALLY defeated.”
That’s what they thought 150 years ago, the racist, gutless bastards. Wrong again.

In the Soviet system, due to the proclivities of the “new” set in power to purge all documented traces of the “old” set who lost power, they say:
“In Russia, the past is even more uncertain than the future.”

Just wait until the Democrats once again hold both legislative houses and the governor’s manse in South Carolina, they’ll put that flag up again, just like the Dems did in the 1960s. And they’ll blame its existence on the Republicans again, just like they are doing now.
Hey, the Dems have accomlished this propaganda twice now, why NOT three times?

It was all forgive and forget when former KKK leader, Sen Robert Byrd of West Virginia was dubbed ” the conscience of the Senate”. I’m certain many places in WV bear his name…and will remain. Here in Tennessee, the Democrats will still have their ” Jackson Day” meetings named for an unrepentant slaveowner and persecuter of Cherokee and other American Indian tribes. Slaveowner, Union Gen Ulysess S. Grant’s statues will remain as well as his visage in the $50 bill. Reactionaries respond to a crime of bigotry and intolerance by one person with bigotry and intolerance selectively applied to the many!!!

next up: dig up nathan bedford forest.
no different than the taliban in afghanistan or isis in iraq destroying historical artifacts. erase the past to control the future.
let. it. burn.

If the reactionary intolerant bigots want to dig up Forrest, then the names and relics of Andrew Jackson, Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant need to be expunged for staters. Nathan Bedford Forrest was more like Martin Luther King, Jr. Compared to those figures AND the aforementioned modern bigots, like my own Governor Haslam who wants to take down his statue from the Capitol grounds. Read some history about Forrest and the Black Community of Memphis:

Not quite, we still have a president willing to say the n-word in public.
Now can we judge him based on the content of his character?
