I see what they’re doing there. It’s a largely sarcastic piece, focusing over and over on the sales, profit, marketing to kids, corporate sponsorship equals profit aspect. That’s the very best you’ll ever get from a Progressive publication though (a back-handed puff piece) so we can look at it as a good thing.
If this were a television segment, they’d be rolling their eyes at the right moments and giving us the strategically raised eyebrow here and there to indicate that they think it’s horrible what these evil corporations are doing to our poor, impressionable children. In print it’s done a little differently is all.
