I assume you know at least part the answer– attempting to deprive people of their best means of defense is in itself an act of violence.
We can distill and rephrase the question then; “Why are violent people violent?” And there I think we’ve come closer to finding the truth. Ask your rabbi about it, but first make sure he’s not a Fascist/Progressive “rabbi”.

This is Baltimore we are discussing. The groups in question are populated with gang members, supposedly reformed, supposedly to help protect their own communities from the members’ gang buddies.
It is a Baltimore sham, corruption as normal, with government money flowing to groups that support the government, never mind the harm those groups do.
Gangs now run large parts of Baltimore. Get used to it.

Just adding another location to the “places to hide their guns to avoid getting caught with them.”
“Hiding them at your girlfriend’s house without telling her, so her kids can find them and hurt themselves, causing a tragedy and adding to the statistics the anti-rights crowd will trumpet against legal gun owners”, was getting a little old.

Funnel where taxpayer money and borrowed money gets chunked in, to disappear into the pockets of community organizers who organize protests and bus in voters from state to state.
