Glad they balanced the story of the pastor’s lawful uses of force with the story of the man who shot someone fleeing. You know, can’t have folks thinking self-defense is an unmitigated good or anything.
35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
So it cannot be argued that Jesus is totally against self-defense among the righteous. And that’s New Testament, even!
Jesus said, When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace. –Luke 11:21
Jesus is the LORD Who spoke to Abraham (John 8:56-58), Who gave the Law to Moses (John 5:39-46) and revelation to Psalmists and Prophets (Luke 24:44-45). The whole of Scripture supports armed self defense. Futhermore the government has NO BUSINESS telling Christians whether or not they can exercise that basic God-given right while meeting together in a church building.
