News you can use
From comments, a great idea:
If it (your safe – ed) has an electrical pass-through to plug in a dehumidifier, I highly recommend covering the outside of the hole for the plug with some 3M Fire Barrier Putty. My guns probably would have been in perfect condition if Id had that. Instead, the seal around that plug melted, which let smoke and moisture get inside. Restoring guns is cheaper than buying them all over. But its still a lot more expensive that a block of that putty would have been.

I’ll do the surfing for you: ‘Intumescent’
I knew what regular tumescent meant, just not the ‘in’ kind. 😛

Make sure you have the red intumescent fire caulk or fire stop, there is a similar product that comes in white, gray, or tan that is not fire rated and is only meant to stop noise and airflow. I’ve seen the two products used incorrectly too often in the field. Fwiw, I’m am electrician and I just finished a Fire Alarm/Life Safety system installation at a DoE/DoD lab earlier this year (Siemens panel and devices, Class A, w/VESDA if anyone cares).

Here’s a different version on Amazon with Prime shipping. Can’t tell the difference between the MP+ stuff and this 25WB+ version.

I’m guessing that stuff is counterindicated with actually using the plugs?
