through the first two episodes the only thing I could make myself care about was the guy’s old F150; but I’m hoping the female lead is starting to show glimpses of that “mugged by reality” learning
didn’t hurt she unbuttoned her shirt a little more either
Most anti-Fear the/Walking Dead critics are still gleefully missing the point. Neither show is about survivalists, or military-trained operators. It’s about regular sheeple making survival choice based on zero preparation and a complete lack of skill sets. The preppers are the minority, folks. The eyes wide shut are the majority (and this new show IS in the Commifornia, after all). Do you really find it so outrageous that Little Miss Suzy Homemaker or Mr. Knowitall down the street would behave rationally in any catastrophe? The shows aren’t intentionally dumb: they’re unintentionally realistic BECAUSE the characters were living and walking zombies of another sort from the start.
If you like the shows, that’s cool. But they’re dumb and full of lazy writing. For example, way back in the farm season the old white dude (who wasn’t the farmer)is in the middle of the field and turns around into a zombie attack. WTF? Where did the zombie come from? He should have heard the zombie; they don’t actually try to sneak up. This is camera trick bullshit. And the show does that shit all the time.
And don’t even get me started on the governor. How did he anticipate where the blond woman would go when he tracked her down? Stupid. Not killing the governor off? Stupid. Making a whole new season conflict be with the governor again? Stupid. For me, the show was starting to insult my intelligence too much. This is the derp I was referring to, and not the dumb decisions characters make.
I know plenty of cool smart people who like the show, and they overlook it’s flaws. And maybe I’m nitpicking too much; the show’s just not for me.
