Having solved all of the county’s problems
Let’s pass a law that, well, I’ll just quote the local news rag:
Miller, who represents District 4, is sponsoring a resolution asking that the Supreme Being pass us by in His coming wrath and not destroy our county as he did Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring cities because of the June 26 opinion by the U.S. Supreme Court that legalized same-sex marriage throughout the nation.

A resolution is not a law or statute, and carries no weight or enforcement. Tons of them are passed by local bodies for everything that their sponsors believe reflects the attitudes of their constituency and keeps them in their chair.

If the supreme beings wrath did not fall on our nation due to the genocidal treatment of native Americans or the enslaving of a whole race, than I’m pretty sure this gay marriage issue will not bring down brimstone. If it does your supreme being has his priorities really screwed up.

They Rep is ASKING the Lord to not rain down punishment.
He is not TELLING the Lord the guberment says it’s illegal.
Big difference.

I, for one, look forward to a Deity that pays attention to local government resolutions.
Cthulu wouldn’t.

Druther have legislators harmlessly praying and passing resolutions of prayer than actually passing laws that screw us over.
