Ballistics Testing in Plain English
That’s a lot of testing. He tested 117 handgun loads with high speed camera footage. Impressive. Interesting things to me:
Clothing “clogged” some hollow points.
All the 9mm ammo seemed to be most consistent. The other calibers penetration was all over the place. I may switch to the 147g golden sabers.

Added Bonus:
147 Gr. 9 mm are usually subsonic rounds.
True fact.

Consider Buffalo Bore’s 147-gr “Heavy Outdoors” +P 9mm. It will get the job done with it’s hardcast flatnose boolit. Deep penetration, big meplat, smashes everything it hits. Of all the legal (non-AP) loads, it has the best chance of getting you through a longer fight where cover, cars, etc become an issue. At least consider it for your second maggy.

Maybe skip the expensive stuff and try this

And Rivrdog, nope! I’m not going to be shooting at anything I can’t see and identify.

So a 9mm almost as heavy as a .45ACP boolit, which has a hole up front almost as big as those in the .45ACP boolits, works just about like a .45ACP boolit?
Tam’s long-ago post on cavity formation and penetration was right. Location of hits counts more than caliber, and all calibers do about the same.
