That sign indicates to drug dealers that the neighbors have enough political pull to get a sign posted. And likely get additional patrols, or even a stakeout by police looking for drug sales. So they probably do go a block or two away to sell their drugs.
It is cooperation between drug dealers and local government not to upset people who can complain effectively. Not as effective as arresting and incarcerating the drug dealers, but it keeps the dealers aware of less-friendly locations for drug sales.
@alanstorm, any bets that the same folks (officialdom) who put up gun free signs for where others must work or go to school, put them up for where they work?

Any bets that the same folks who put up the sign – or “gun-free zone” signs – ridiculed “just say no to drugs”?

I see a sign by the side of the road all the time, reading “55 MPH”. That sign gets routinely ignored too.

Ron, of COURSE they put up the magical signs. Surely you’re not suggesting it apply to THEIR hired guns, are you?

That’s why so many people left Detroit. No place to buy/sell drugs.
