To avoid the metal requirement for the gun, just make it a cap and ball revolver. Legally they aren’t “firearms” under federal law, so they don’t have to comply with the detectability requirements. If you make several cylinders and preload them, you can reload something like that nearly as quickly as you can a semi-auto. Just carry some spare loaded cylinders.
Imagine dropping one of those loaded cylinders on a concrete sidewalk and having it land with all 6 barrels pointed up at your private parts. Imagine the hard surface igniting one or more primers.
