For your 3D printed gun

Now, 3D printed bullets. Not a particularly exciting video and the volume is a bit loud.

I could see something like a shaped stone, full ABS jacketed projectile, in hopes of making it heavy enough to do some damage, along with a polymer cased or caseless cartridge. As far as the barrel and chamber, I’m thinking we’ll have to do something with carbon fiber reinforced ceramic and a bolt-action format. Should still be invisible, just not purely printed.

As for caseless cartridges, you could use something like a Pyrodex or Triple Seven Pellet. Glue that to the base of the bullet. You still need a primer, but priming compound inside the axial hole of the pellet would work. I’m imagining a projectile with a “rod” sticking out of the base of the bullet that fits inside that axial hole most of the way and provide a good surface for adhesive, and to act as an “anvil” against which the firing pin can hit. The priming compound would sit against that rod, and would be far enough in the hole still to prevent the ammunition from spontaneously igniting if dropped or hit.

The exposed pellets tend to be somewhat delicate, but some kind of coating that protects them would go a long way to making them reasonably durable. Even a single wrapping of thin paper (which would be consumed) over the pellet itself would make it much more durable.

In case it’s not really clear from my description, it’s kind of like a Dreyse Needle Gun, sort of, with a comparatively short “needle” of a firing pin.

However, if you’re going to build something like that, in order to not run afoul of the “undetectable firearms” law, you should make it as a single shot muzzleloader, or perhaps as a cap and ball pepperbox or revolver.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
