Stroke of the pen, law of the land

Obama to use executive order for gun control:

President Barack Obama’s advisers are finalizing a proposal that would expand background checks on gun sales without congressional approval.

White House adviser Valerie Jarrett says the president has asked his team to complete a proposal and submit it for his review “in short order.” She says the recommendations will include measures to expand background checks.

Dis gon b gud.

Some people might be inclined to tell the Jihadist-in-Chief to blow it out his bung hole. As for Valerie Jarrett, she has the broadest grin that I have ever seen on a Marxist turd.

To those that I talked to about Obama who had a so what attitude over 2A concerns prior to his being elected because “he doesn’t have the votes” for gun control.
Well. Wherever you are I think I deserve a hearty round of “I told you so” because I was talking about executive orders back then.

He’s been an awesome gun salesman though. Let’s hope that whatever it is turns out to be unenforceable, and/or easily done away with.

How does he have the right to dictate law to the states? Private sales are a matter of intrastate commerce and only Congress can interfere with that through the expansive reading of the Commerce Clause. The President has zero authority to order Virginia, for example, to not allow private sales within its borders in accordance with its state law.

How on earth is the administration going to provide the legal justification for the power to do this?!? The states that allow private sales, rightfully, should go tell him where he can stick that idea.

The price America will pay for ignoring the decimation of the rest of the constitution. While Decimating the 4th, people thought they would let us keep the 2nd? Only a matter of time.

  5. Divemedic Says:

@Matt: It is my understanding that he is going to use an EO to instruct the ATF that anyone who sells a firearm is “in the business” and needs to have an FFL.

  6. Dragon Says:

And just how the fuck is the ATF going to enforce a private sale?

Are they going to demand all the 4473 records that us FFL’s, by law, keep on file for 20 years, then go through them and start asking folks to submit a list of their currently-owned firearms?

Or are they going to stand outside at every gun show and *watch* for suspicious activity? Hell…the ATF is so under-manned its pitiful, and the blowhard in the White House thinks that he’s just going to declare it to happen, and suddenly private sales will go away?

  7. Ron W Says:

Don’t EO’s only apply to Federal Employees? If the EO orders a agents to break the law, then they should be arrested in the States where their criminal actions occur. Otherwise just ignore his UNLAWFUL EO.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
