As much as I love the concept, the “traditional scout rifle” is about as obsolete as a two-handed sword. Yes, both are better than nothing, but given you can get into the AR-10 game for about the same price/weight as one of Col Cooper’s (PBUH) scout rifles, I don’t see it being the optimal choice.
And that doesn’t mean I want to be at the wrong end of one! Scout or sword.
If you choose to use either, more power to you! I just can’t find the justification.
As for using a scout scope, its of great use it its all you have on hand. Sadly, time has passed it by. I am all for thriftiness, though.
