Don’t know about that but once had a Firing Pin go flying on a gun that was supposed to handle dry fire. Couldn’t find the thing in grayish sandy soul of far east NC. My expression was more dumbfounded than anything.
That is really funny! I haven’t stopped laughing yet. When it happened to me, I could swear it disappeared before it hit the ground.
My last two builds have a 4-40 tap on those, and a very slightly cut down spring, at least for the one held in by the stock.
(I also just buy an extra or two, because reasons.)
(Clarification: The detent spring hold gets a 4-40 thread tapped into it, and I use a 4-40 set screw to keep the spring in.)
Be sure to shorten the spring by the length of the 4-40 set screw.
But yea, I have the same mod on my .308 AR.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
