Desperation
I can’t believe what appear to be grown men would put up with nonsense like this in the vague hopes of hooking up with a girl.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

They’re not grown men. They’re horny pups or metrosexual hipsters.

I call BS. I don’t believe those are real, actual dating couples. It looks like Cosmo paid male actors to act – probably taxpayer supported somehow, via funding or tax breaks from the Ad Council.

Cosmo hasn’t had a new idea since the 1980s, and anyone reading it should pour some kind of mental cleanser into their brain afterwards to rinse off the muck. I’d recommend Laphroaig.

Would the wrong response to the lady stating that she is afraid of what you would do with the gun should you get into an argument be “OJ didn’t use a gun”?

Now imagine Cosmo doing a piece with the genders reversed.
You know where the cocky dudebro mansplained to the woman she shouldn’t own a gun because she’d just hurt herself, kill him in an “emotional fit”, and generally shamed her for daring affront his gender normative prejudice.

This is a very old trick. The Temperance Movement used women in the push toward Prohibition with the slogan;
“Lips that touch liquor shall not touch mine”
Charles Manson is also known to have used women as bait to attract men into his gang. The Moonies did the same sort of thing, as did the “peace*” movement during the Vietnam War;
“Women say ‘yes’ to guys who say ‘no’.”
It’s pretty common in history, with universally terrible consequences.
*Peace; the lack of opposition to socialist/communist/authoritarian military expansion.
